The team never posed a threat up front and the midfield struggled badly. The only good performances came from Luke Daniels in goal, Jared Hodgkiss at right-back and Brian Smikle in midfield. MAN OF THE MATCH: Brian Smikle PLAYER RATINGS OUT OF TEN Daniels 7 - Made a number of good saves, kicking improved as game went on. Hodgkiss 7 - Another solid performance. Forsyth 6 - Solid but tended to dive into challenges too quickly. Manchester 5 - Looks unconvincing at times. Baker 5 - Not his usual high standard, very sloppy in possession. Humphrey 5 - Struggled to make an impact. Sissoko 5 - Not in game. R Davies 5 - Guilty of sloppy passing, didn't contribute enough. Elvins 4 - Ineffective again, failed to win anything in the air and posed little threat to the Wigan goal. Smikle 7 - Worked hard, our most dangerous player. S Nicholson 5 - Made no real impression.
