Swansea City fan Jim from SCFC2.co.uk
answers 20 questions ahead of Wednesday night's game at the Liberty Stadium.
Why
Swansea?
Born there
and was taken by my Dad when I was 6 and was hooked ever since.
How long
a fan?
I am now 37
and so some 31 years!
Highlight of supporting the club?
Some great
and wonderful experiences over the last 30 years but nothing beats the feeling
when Phil Dowd blew his whistle at Wembley 18 months ago that confirmed our
promotion to the Premier League.
Low
point of supporting the club?
Former
chairman Tony Petty tried break our club and
destroy some 90+ years of history all in the hunt for a quick buck. We quickly
worked together as a club to ensure this awful man was removed from our club and
it was from here that our rebuilding process started.
Favourite current Swans’ player?
Ashley
Williams is a real leader and a no nonsense centre half who does a lot off the
pitch as well as on it! I am also a big Leon Britton fan. Does the simple things
really well and makes us tick in midfield.
Favourite all-time Swans’ player?
I only saw
him a few times but Robbie James was incredible. His lung bursting energy and
skill would in today’s current markets make him worth millions. Lee Trundle was
also a great entertainer as well and brought the club to the attention of the
National Media through his incredible skills.
Thoughts
on Swansea’s season
so far?
We have yet
again proved all the pundits that thought we would go down wrong and I am
pleased with the season so far. We still look good at the back but have added an
attacking threat and to have 17 points so far this season is pretty good!
Happy
with Michael Laudrup?
Yes very.
When you change a manager there is always a concern (as you guys know
yourselves) but he has come in and added a new attacking dimension to our play.
He is a different type of manager to Brendan Rogers but is doing well
considering it’s his first season in the PL.
Where
will you finish the season?
I think we
will end up 10th.
What
were your summer transfer dealings like?
Very good
indeed. We sold a young midfielder and a young winger and have replaced them
with 4 very good quality players, a couple of back ups and it’s left a few
million in change. As we sang on Sunday, Chim chimeney
chim chimeny chim chim chero who needs Joe Allen when we got MICHU!!!
How have
your signings settled in?
Michu has
got the headlines but
Chico, Pablo and De Guzman have all now settled in well and
are showing their value now.
Who's
been your best player so far?
Considering
he was just 4 months ago in the youth team, Ben Davies has done incredibly well
at left back since Neil Taylor was injured and is now one of the first names on
the team sheet.
Anyone
been a let-down, anyone been particularly poor?
No although
Danny Graham seems to have lost the sharpness that he had last year and needs to
regain this if he is to get his place back in the team.
Luke
Moore, a complete waste of time during his spell at The Hawthorns, how’s he done
for you?
Does well
now and again when he comes on as sub but seems to be a confidence player and if
he doesn’t have any then he don’t show up much in games. I like him personally
but think that he is unlikely to feature much this year.
Are
there any youngsters coming through the Swans’ set-up you are particularly
excited about?
See comment
about Ben Davies above! Neil who?
Any
particular memories of
Albion v
Swansea games
that stand out?
I always
remember the play off battles that we had many years ago when Frank Burrows was
our manager. They were disappointing memories though…..
Thoughts
on Albion's season
so far?
Wow!!!! You
have done incredibly well and I am pleased for you.
Albion player you admire?
Always
liked James Morrison. Looks skillful and a committed player. Have often thought
Chris Brunt is under rated as well.
Premier
League Champs?
Man U
Three teams
for the drop?
Reading,
Aston Villa and QPR (I hope on the last 2 anyway).
Prediction for Wednesday night’s game?
2-2 – would
love a win but think we will draw at home again.
