Ahead of Saturday's clash with Hull City at the
KC Stadium, we spoke to Tigers' fan Rick from City blog
From Boothferry To Wembley. He gives
us his views on
Assem Allam’s
plan to rename the club,
the current Albion connection, Hull's FA Cup run and more. You can also find
Rick on

Where better
than to start than with the news of the rejection by the FA of Assem Allam’s
plan to rename the club. City fans must be delighted but do you fear the
repercussions of the decision?
It's not confirmed yet but if it is, it's terrific news. We
can't really control the repercussions. The owners are still well backed by fans
but if they choose to take opposition to changing the identity as opposition to
their running of the club, I' m not sure there's anything fans can do about
that. Following Hull City has never and will never be easy.
There’s a strong
Albion
connection at Hull at the moment, with Davies, Koren, McShane and Long all
plying their trade for the Tigers. How are they doing for you?
All have been excellent for us. Koren is probably coming to
the end of his time at
Hull but was vital in the Championship. McShane has turned
his career around remarkably here. Curtis Davies has been about the best English
central defender in the Premier League this year. Miles better than anyone
though - even me and I was a fan before. Long has added bags of pace to the side
which we lacked. Who'd let him go??
After being
drawn against League One Sheffield United in the semi-finals, you are clearly
favourites to progress to the final of the FA Cup. Do you believe you can win
the competition?
I don't see why not. We can't discount the semi because it
will be a massive day for both clubs and there'll be way more pressure on us but
if we can get through it, we'll either face Wigan or we'll play Arsenal
and the roles will be reversed with all the pressure being on them after 9
barren years.
Hull are
currently five points clear of the bottom three, are you confident that you will
avoid being dragged down into a relegation battle as the season draws to a
close?
At the moment I am. We've generally pulled out a result
whenever things have got a bit hairy and we'll hopefully do that against WBA
this weekend. The semi and a potential cup final could be distracting so we need
to get some points on the board in the next four games.
Highlight of
the season so far?
Either beating
Liverpool at home or thrashing Sunderland in the cup
quarter final. Both great occasions for different reasons.
Moment you
would rather forget?
Fortunately not been too many. The Norwich game was
abysmal. Both teams were awful and then they nicked it late from a set piece!
Player of the
season?
Easily Curtis Davies. He's been a rock at the back and a
great influence as skipper too.
Any player
been particularly disappointing?
Not his fault but groin injuries have stopped Robbie Brady
making an impact after an excellent season in the Championship and then a bright
start in the PL.
Premier League
Champs?
I've said Chelsea from the start so I'll stick with
them.
Relegated?
Fulham,
Cardiff and West B.... er, Sunderland!
Prediction and
thoughts on Saturday’s game?
We've not beaten
West Brom at home for over 20 years so we must be due one. I'll
go 2-1 Hull City with a Shane Long winner!
