OPPOSITION VIEW - MANCHESTER UNITED Q&A

Ahead of Saturday's game with Manchester United at Old Trafford, we spoke to Scott, who amongst other things writes for United website The Republik Of Mancunia. He gives his views on United's mixed start to the season, David Moyes, Wayne Rooney and much more. You can also find Scott on Twitter @R_o_M.

It’s been something of a mixed start for United results-wise, how have performances been?

There's been nothing consistent yet. We played really well against Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool in the cup and Swansea away, but we were dreadful at Anfield and even worse away to City. Moyes is just figuring it all out at the moment.

Were you happy with the appointment of David Moyes? Was there anyone else you would have liked to have been considered for the role?

When it was first rumoured he was getting the job I thought it was utterly ridiculous and couldn't possibly happen. He's so unqualified for the job. When Ferguson became our manager, when we were in the relegation zone, he'd had a far more successful career. The idea of the manager of the champions being someone who's never won a trophy or played in the Champions League is mental.

What’s your take on the Rooney situation? Is he still a hero to the United fans or have they fell out of love with him following his apparent desire to seek pastures new?

Judging from the fans at the games, everything seems forgiven. For me personally, I think the guy is a prick but would rather him bang the goals in for us than Chelsea. If a big offer comes in from abroad and we have the guarantee of reinvesting that in the squad, I'd gladly take it.

Final thoughts on last season?  How did that title win compare to others?

It was a big win for us, even if anti-climatic given how easy it was. Losing out to City on goal difference the season before was obviously very painful so it was incredibly satisfying to walk away with the league last season.

Hero of last season?

Robin van Persie is the obvious one. He was a fantastic buy for us, scoring in nearly all of our big games, and clinching the title with that hat-trick against Villa. Michael Carrick was also hugely important for us too though.

Most amusing ‘terrace chant’ heard last season?

"Shinji 1, Gerrard 0."

Player to watch this season?

Adnan Januzaj.

Do you have a personal highlight from Fergie’s reign at Old Trafford?

Come on. Far too many to mention.

Any particular memory that stands out from previous Albion v United games?

Not especially. It was pretty enjoyable beating you 4-0 and 5-0 home and away a few years back.

Prediction for United’s season? Can you retain the title? Can you be successful in Europe?

We can retain the title. That's probably more to do with the challenge I expect other teams to pose though.

Prediction for Albion’s season?

You had a good season last season. It will be interesting to see if you can repeat that without Lukaku.

Premier League Champions?

United.

Relegated?

Cardiff, Palace and Sunderland.

Prediction for Saturday’s game?

3-1 United.
