Ahead of Sunday's game against Liverpool at The
Hawthorns, we caught up once more with Reds' fan Kirsty who runs the excellent blog
The Liver Bird.
She gives her views on the
game, Liverpool's season so far, Luis Suarez and more. You can also find Kirsty

Where
better than to start with last Tuesday’s game against Everton… that result must
have been satisfying to say the least?
I was pretty much gobsmacked. I watched the match in a local
pub and there were a fair few Everton fans so that made it all the sweeter! To
be 3-0 up at half time against the blues was just brilliant, I thought it was a
superb performance and was genuinely surprised at the manner in which Everton
played both tactically and performance wise. The only downside was that Daniel
Sturridge penalty!
It’s been a
good season so far for the Reds. You’re currently sitting fourth in the league,
can you make up ground on the three teams above or will you be happy with
maintaining fourth spot?
I would like to think we could make up some ground, I'm
hoping that with the European commitments the other teams have we may get a
chance to capitalise but that's being quite optimistic. I would be over the moon
to finish in fourth this season as I originally predicted we would finish out of
the top four, after all the hard work so far I think we simply have to get that
4th place and I would be very happy with that.
Suarez and Sturridge are clearly the main threat to
Albion on Sunday, is there
anyone else we need to keep a tight rein on?
I think you'd be pretty silly not to try and keep tabs on
both Sterling and
Coutinho, they constantly make things happen but unfortunately for
Liverpool at the moment they can't quite produce the end
product.
Luis Suarez is having a great season, easily one of the best
strikers in Europe at the
moment, how does he compare in fans’ eyes to the likes of Owen, Fowler & Rush?
I can't speak for everyone of course but I would immediately
say that most fans have forgotten about Michael Owen's efforts after “that”
move. As for Rush and Fowler, I think he's a different sort of striker and being
from Uruguay there's always a certain flair that Suarez will bring to the
argument. However, Ian Rush is my favourite all-time Liverpool player and so
currently I struggle to place Suarez above him. He's a phenomenal player though
and I just hope we can keep hold of him so he can keep breaking records!
Anything
Brendan Rodgers needs to be doing better?
I'm pretty happy with Brendan to be honest. The only small
criticism I have is when all options were available he's been a bit too risky
with the defensive set up sometimes. I'm a bit of a traditionalist in that I
like to maintain a constant back four or certainly a constant centre back
pairing and so I would have liked to have seen Skrtel and Agger start more games
together but injuries have also perhaps prevented that. Overall I'm happy with
Brendan though, I think he's building steadily for the future and I like the way
he presents himself in front of the media and fans.
Highlight
of the season so far?
My personal highlight has to be the win over Manchester
United. It may have only been 1-0 but I'm sick to death of getting all the stick
from United fans. I was elated to be able to jump out of my chair and complete a
fine rendition of the Daniel Sturridge dance when we beat them in August. It's
about time we had chance to laugh at them!
Moment you
would rather forget?
The recent match against Aston Villa is certainly a moment I
would rather forget as for me it was the worst performance of the season so far
and we were lucky really to gain a point. I also wish I could push the Man City
loss out of my mind, I seriously thought we deserved to win that game and most
watching would have agreed. That was a key point in the season and I think a win
or draw at the Etihad may have been a springboard for the Chelsea game too
but... nevermind ay?!
Player of
the season so far?
Ooo, that's tough! Most would scream Luis Suarez but I also
feel Daniel Sturridge needs the shout, I'd find it extremely hard to split the
two as both have been perfect strikers despite missing games.
Any player
been a let-down?
I'm gonna get so much stick for this one but I've not been as
impressed with Simon Mignolet as everybody else seems to have been. Don't get me
wrong, I like him and think he's a great goalkeeper and I'm certain he will
eventually iron out his faults but as such a big fan of Pepe Reina I've began to
realise that whilst Mignolet is a fabulous shot stopper, he's perhaps not quite
there on all-round terms yet. His slight mistakes and refusal to catch the ball
combined with some “floppy hand” performances have left me worried and whilst I
wouldn't really go as far to call him a “let-down” I'd be lying if I said I
hadn't been frustrated with him this season.
Premier
League champs?
Before the season kicked off I said Chelsea and I still feel
they have a chance but after watching the season unfold I feel as though it's
City's to lose now.
Relegated?
Tough one as it's so tight this year but I'd have to say West
Ham, Cardiff and Palace at this moment in time. I get the feeling though
that my mind will constantly be changing on this. I just feel some of the other
clubs hovering around the bottom at the moment such as yourselves and Fulham
have the experience to escape the drop.
Prediction
for Sunday’s game?
I predict and somewhat expect a
Liverpool win on Sunday. Last
season I would have feared West Brom a bit more but I'm not as impressed with
your performances so far this season. However I haven't seen you play since the
introduction of Pepe Mel and so perhaps he can inject something into the game.
We're prone to conceding goals but our strong attack often balances this problem
out. I'll go for a 2-1 Liverpool win for this one.
