OPPOSITION VIEW - NEWPORT COUNTY Q&A

Ahead of tonight's Capital One Cup match at The Hawthorns, we spoke to County fan Kevin to gather his thoughts on his team and on the game. You can follow him on Twitter at @CountyTeaBoy

How long a County fan?

Followed them since I was a boy, but only with a passion for about 7yrs.

Why County?

My home town (born and bred).

Last season must have been pretty special for County fans with the club making a return to the Football League after a 25 year absence?

Priceless. A testament not only to the current management and playing staff, but also to the army of volunteers and die hard supporters that kept the dream alive.

How has County’s start to this season been?

Fab. The players have confidence in their own ability as well as that of their team mates. They trust each other and it shows out on the pitch where the football is a joy to watch. Added to that, when the Gaffer gets them going, they fear nobody.

What sort of style and tactics can we expect to see from Newport?

Your pitch having a perfect surface will suit us down to the ground as we are a very good footballing side. The squad is fitter than I have ever seen before. We work really hard when we have the ball but even harder when we don't, so warn your lads, they're not going to get much time to dwell on the ball.

How many fans are expected to travel to the game and how does that compare to a normal away fixture?

We're expecting approx 1300. Normally between 300-500 depending on distance to travel / day of the week.

Thoughts on County defender and former Baggie Tony James?

Gentleman / Inspiration to younger players / Consistent / Calm under pressure / True professional

Player to Watch?

Defence: Andy Sandell / Midfield: Adam Chapman / Striker: Christian Jolly

Prediction for County’s season, can you achieve successive promotions?

It wasn't that long ago that we had a strong 11, but were struggling to maintain form if we needed to bring someone else off the bench. This year I believe we have the strength in depth to continually produce quality football even if we get plagued with a host of injuries. The first team are kept on their toes knowing there are quality players waiting to step into their boots and the Gaffer would have no hesitation in replacing someone if they were not pulling their weight. I believe there are 3 automatic promotions plus 1 from the playoffs, so yes, I think we are in with a great chance of finishing in the top 7 and fingers crossed - who knows.

Prediction for the game?

We will give a very good account of ourselves! ha ha. #amberarmy
