
2015 - Albion smash their transfer record to sign Venezuelan
international striker Salomón Rondón. The 25 year-old, who has scored 13 goals
in 39 games for his country, joins in a £12million deal from Russian side Zenit
Saint Petersburg. The 6ft 3in forward has previously played for Rubin Kazan,
Malaga, Las Palmas and Aragua.
2012 - Highly-rated Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku joins
Albion on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The 19 year old moved to
Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht in August 2011 for a reported fee of around
£10million.
2006 - Popular Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak departs The Hawthorns,
joining Manchester United, initially on loan, in a players plus cash deal.
Arriving in the West Midlands are defender Paul McShane and keeper Luke Steele.
The deal is reportedly worth £4million in total, Kuszczak being valued at around
£2.5million. Kuszczak will join United permanently in the summer of 2007.
2004 - Want-away midfielder Sean Gregan has his transfer request granted
by the club. Leeds United are reportedly interested in the player who months
earlier lead the Baggies to promotion.
1998 - New signing Enzo Maresca is called up for an Italian national side
training camp despite the youngster having yet to feature in Albion's first
team.

1996 - Alex Palmer
Academy graduate Palmer broke into Albion's first team squad at the end of the
2014/15 season, earning a place on the substitutes bench for the final game of
the campaign at Arsenal. The goalkeeper joined his home-town club Kidderminster
Harriers in a six-month loan deal prior to the start of the 2015/16 season.
1886 - Fred Haycock
Smethwick-born Haycock joined Albion in June 1904 after playing non-league
football locally. He spent three years with the Baggies scoring eight goals in
15 appearances. The inside-forward had short spells with a number of clubs but
it was only at Lincoln City where he once again played league football, scoring
six goals in 28 games during the 1910/11 season. Haycock's
death was registered in Birmingham in the summer of 1953.

1882 - Jimmy Williams
Brownhills-born winger Williams started his professional career with Aston Villa
but failed to make a first team appearance at Villa Park. He joined Albion in
March 1905 and spent just over four years with the club, scoring once in 35
appearances. On leaving the Baggies he returned to Brownhills Albion for whom he
had played for before joining Villa.
