      HISTORY : THE FA CUP

Generally recognised as one of the all-time great cup-fighting teams, Albion first entered the FA Cup during the 1883/84 season, losing 2-0 at home to local rivals Wednesbury Town. Within four years however the club had reached the final three times, finally lifting the trophy at the third time of asking in 1888 following defeats in 1886 and 1887.

The club’s impressive record includes ten cup final appearances - winners on five occasions, and twenty semi-final appearances. They last lifted the famous old trophy in 1968 when they beat Everton 1-0 thanks to a goal from the late, great, Jeff Astle.
