Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua had ended.

(2) The fee for Brown will be decided by a tribunal. The academy midfielder was
free to move due to not having signed a
professional contract with Albion.

in the wake of his five game ban for his controversial 'quenelle' goal
celebration against West Ham United on 28/12/13. Shortly prior to Albion's
termination of his contract Anelka had announced he would be leaving the club.
